In plain terms

What loose-fill fiberglass insulation is

Loose-fill fiberglass is insulation blown into your attic as a deep, even blanket of material. It fills around joists, wiring, and the awkward corners that batts leave gapped — which is where heat slips through.

We install CertainTeed Insulsafe SP, a premium loose-fill fiberglass product. The depth of the blanket sets the R-value (R-value is simply how well insulation resists heat moving through it — higher is better), and the right depth for your attic comes out of the inspection.

How we handle fiberglass insulation

A short, predictable sequence for this specific service — guided by the findings from your home energy-efficiency inspection.

01

Inspect the attic

We measure existing insulation depth and check for gaps, compression, and air leaks.

02

Prepare the space

We protect fixtures, add baffles where airflow needs them, and ready the attic.

03

Blow in the fiberglass

We install CertainTeed Insulsafe SP to the depth your attic needs for an even blanket.

04

Verify and clean up

We confirm coverage, leave the work area clean, and register your settling warranty.

Common questions

Fiberglass Insulation questions, answered

A few of the questions homeowners ask most about this service. The full list lives on our FAQ page.

What R-value should my attic insulation be?

Most current building codes call for about R-49 in the attic, while many existing homes were built to R-30 or R-38. R-value measures how well insulation resists heat flow — higher is better. Our inspection measures your attic’s current depth and tells you whether topping it up to code is worth it for your home.

“After their survey I learned I only had about 8 inches of insulation where I should have had 18, and the garage ceiling had none. They added insulation to the living area and the garage and even helped me complete the applicable rebate forms.”

Can you add insulation on top of what I already have?

Usually, yes. If the existing insulation is dry and in sound condition, we blow new loose-fill fiberglass over it to reach the depth your attic needs. If the inspection finds moisture, mold, or pest damage, we flag that first — adding insulation over a hidden problem only buries it.

“They upgraded our attic insulation and were professional, prompt, and patient with all of our questions. They did a great job of educating us about our insulation issues, and the pricing was fair.”

Does loose-fill fiberglass settle over time?

Quality loose-fill fiberglass holds its depth well, but some settling is normal over the life of any blown insulation. That is exactly what our lifetime settling warranty covers — if it settles, we replace it at no cost, so the R-value you paid for is the R-value you keep.

“I can already see a difference in how the house holds a more consistent temperature as the nights get colder, since the crew added insulation to our home.”

Why fiberglass instead of batts?

Loose-fill fiberglass is blown in as an even blanket that fills around joists, wiring, and the awkward corners batts tend to leave gapped — and those gaps are where heat slips through. For most attic retrofits, blown loose-fill gives more complete coverage than fitting batts around obstructions.

“They provided quality, fast blown-in fiberglass insulation and went the extra mile to exceed the original quote.”
